Centro MCI question

I was looking a current Centro roster and I noticed something strange. Yes, I have no life. They have three sets of MCIs:

660-673 102D3 MCI 1996 (some have been retired)
674-676,678-681 102D3 MCI 2001
682-686 D4000 MCI 2009

My question is, what happen to 677? Based on the VIN number of 681, it should be 677. Was 677 in an accident and repaired using a new number?

Yes, I believe that is the case. A Centro MCI on a Syracuse to Auburn run was involved in a fatal accident in 2007 when a teenaged automobile driver failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of the coach. I haven't confirmed that the bus involved was 677, but I suspect that is why it was renumbered.

Didn't any of the 1996 MCI coaches come from either S&O Lines or Onondaga Coach, or were these buses bought new by Centro?

The 1996 coaches were purchased new.
