				Bob,

Just an addendum to the Bromberger Green Line roster;

# 951  1948 GMC  TDH 4507  SER#  2245  Ex-NYCTA  # 2091

# 952  1948 GMC  TDH 4510  SER#  047    Ex-NYCTA  # 4046

# 953  1948 GMC  TDH 5101  SER#  077    Ex-NYCTA  # 4576

These three coaches represent the only equipment that had been purchased used by Green Line since the early thirties.

649-650 GM T8J-204 1985 (ex-CBC)

648 was GBL 609 and 649 was GBL 239. Both of these buses were lost to fires and were rebuilt and renumbered. 650 was CBC 383. |

I have to disagree, there were some Grummans as well that were used.

548-549 Grumman 53102-8-1 were Harris County MTA 848,911

544-547 Grumman 53102-8-1 were Harris County MTA 1040,919,881,1079

590-591 Grumman 40102-6T  were Demos

I am willing to let the demos slide as used. |

GBL Rebel,

Unfortunately, I didn't properly phrase the sentence which should have read;

"These three coaches represent the 'first' equipment that had been purchased used by Green Line since the early thirties".

Sorry about that misclarification.

Thanks for pointing it out.

				Mr. L,

Other then the 3 buses you pointed out and the Grummans I pointed out, there was only one other bus bought used by GBL, 436 a 1968 GM T6H-5306A. This bus came from Steinway Transit in 1985 it was ST 334. In total 10 buses over 80+ years, not counting the demo Grumman 870's. I think we can agree, a very good record for new buses considering the amount of buses owned over the years. |

648/609 and 649/239 used to be Command? I have the Motor Coach Age 2000 Green Bus Lines article and it doesn't say that.

Also some interesting notes about 648/609: When the bus was rebuilt, the non-sliding windows it received were the ones you'd find on an RTS-01/03. It has cream-colored pillars instead of the black ones you usually find on and RTS-04/06, and someone once told me that they only expected cream-colored pillars on the GBL/Triboro/JBI RTS-03s, not the 04s or 06s. And, the interior lighting is encased in the ad racks like on the New York City Subway R38 cars. |

Exactly my point, not from Command. Both 648 and 649 were rebuilt using RTS03 interior parts. Both had the ad rack lighting and the metal handrail on the back of the seat.

Now a really good question -- Does anyone know why 648 was numbered 8582 when MTAB took over?? |

				Well 8582 is the last unit number on the MTA Bus roster before 9700, which is ex-QSC TMC RTS #294. 8581 is ex-QSC O5 CNG #581. The highest number for the ex-GBL T8J-206s (648/609 is a T8J-206) is 5879, the bus after that would've been 5880 (ex-GBL Classic sub #701, but the number 5880 was never taken because 701 was in an accident and scrapped under Green). With 701 scrapped it seems like 648 shouldve been renumbered to 5880. But then maybe GBL/JFK specifically wanted the 5880s to be all Classics so they decided to put 648 as 8582. But the closest empty spot available is 6000, no buses are numbered from 6000 to 7049.

Many many many possibilities...   |

				There's just one thing that you all must understand about my Green Line statistics;

They end where I ended in 1961 - anything beyond that is your game, and I can't play because I was no longer there.

Interestingly though, when you attach my facts with yours, we get almost a complete picture of all of the used, traded, ex and junked buses that passed through the hands of the company over the years! - that's pretty good!

				Thanks a bunch for the roster. I have just a couple of things. As another poster noted that Grumman Flxible 870 #544-549 were bought second-hand. GBL original 870s were #550-589.

Also the '79 GMD T8H-5307A were actually numbered 355-364. |

Yes I do know. Funny how 649 got renumbered even though it was cut up in 2004 by Gershow Recycling and 648 did not. Can you say "OOOOPS"!! Why did 648 become come 8582 instead of 427x, because someone forgot it when they did the renumbering packages. |
