Was watching Eyewitness News (ABC-7) at 4 earlier and was watching a report on a massive bus garage fire in Philadelphia.

At least 40 SEPTA buses were either destroyed and heavily damaged.

Footage was quite dramatic, to see the least; this fire was anything BUT "minor"......

				Further..........

Reports say that the buses involved were decommissioned; this blaze, of course, will not affect regular service.

Some of these were electric buses; SEPTA employees moved as many buses as they could away from the blaze; over 150 firefighters battled the flames.

Fire was in the yard in the Nicetown area................

				Also.............

Recall, back in 1976, a 10-alarm blaze consumed SEPTA's (ex-PTC) Woodland car house, destroying a number of PCCs.

The building was constructed with wooden timbers supporting the roof, which was also of wooden contruction.............

The cause of fire (at the Midvale depot) is still under investigation.

Note: the electric buses involved in the fire had been in revenue service, at the time of the fire....

				UPDATE:

Probable cause of the massive SEPTA bus depot fire appears to have been caused by a PROTERRA battery (I've NEVER trusted these battery buses to begin with, and am thankful I no longer ride ANY bus, these days)...........
