Thanks for this info; so Amsterdam has been closed for 25 years now; I would assume that they stabled a good number of "Torpedos" (RTS) at the time of closing............

I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere here, quite awhile ago.............

Am curious if Amsterdam was originally a "Soiface" garage, or was it a "Tee-Yay" facility?

Did a little research..............

Found out that the Amsterdam depot was originally a TARS car house; later, it was enlarged/modernized for use as a "Soiface" bus garage; later on, it became a "stoa" facility...............

Yep, I was just gonna have mentioned that . . . 'twas from there that the M100 and M104 routes were based for years.

The last "Pattons"? 1967 - when every C-49DT made for ST from 1954 to 1958 (and renumbered 4900-4910 and 4962-4999 in 1963) were retired upon the arrival of the A/C batwing Fishbowls)
The last "Kramdens"? Likely 1966 (the last documented of those there were the TDH-4509's originally built in 1949-50 for FACCo, in the 2300-2400 series range)

If I am not mistaken the "sign in the front that sticks out" 5106s were based out of the Coliseum depot?

Until 1970 there were a few of those that were based out of 132nd Street. But yes, Coliseum had a bunch of 'em. Namely the renumbered '3200's' that were originally 3020-3059 when put in "soivice" for "Soiface" in 1959.

Indeed, retired FAR, FAR too early.....barely "well broken in".......truly sad that these distinctive buses could not have been sold for further service elsewhere, and, even sadder, not one example making it into preservation........... Crying or Very sad

I think in the past I uploaded better pics of such would-have-been-road-warriors-if-they-hadn't-been-pulled-so-prematurely, onto this forum. Again, a casualty of the "shiny and new" mentality of the "Em-Tee-Yay." At least these ones stayed on the "tony" path to near the end - more than could be said for their "Jetson" cousins which were playing out their days in "da Bronx," except for the 10 A/C units which were either in Brooklyn or Queens at that point in time.

Yes, I recall those great photos you uploaded awhile back; I STILL maintain that, had the fates been kinder, these distinctive, "built like a tank" buses easily could have crossed the Hudson, to see further "soivice" with one or two of the Jersey City-area "indies" then still in operation.

Agreed; these eye-catching 5106s were pulled from service FAR too soon; heck, they were barely just "broken in".................. Sad
