NEW YORK OMNIBUS 2629

On Eyewitness News at Noon today (ABC-7) there was an interesting bit about new MTA electric buses and a new charging station/facility in Jamaica.

I find this interesting in that I am curious just how "on target" the "Em-Tee-Yay" will be regarding its current target date for an zero-emissions bus fleet.

Contrary to what many might think, the concept of a "zero emissions" electric bus (NOT a trackless trolley) is far from new; in 1900's London, the pioneering "Electrobus" became the world's first practical battery/electric bus.....

This MTA photo of an electric bus charging station is quite interesting; quite awhile ago, I saw an online photo of virtually the same type of setup being experimented with in Germany, during the 1950's.......

Remember, not all that long ago, when it seemed that CNG buses were the future?

This old photo of a COMMAND CNG (RTS) being towed back to home base is particularly symbolic today, since the "roof pod" RTS's have now vanished from the streets of "Noo Yawk".......
