Is there any update as to when they'll choose a manufacturer and as to when the new buses will arrive? The remaining 70 or so 2000 Orion V CNGs are on their last legs.

They've requested funding to purchase 20 40-foot CNG buses this year.

20 new buses? What happened to the 70 bus order from last year? Are they doing this as a means to test out a new fleet of buses (due to Orion's closure and all)?

That's not really a good idea. All of the remaining 2000 Orion V CNGs ( #1526-1632) needs replacing right away.

Not that I necessarily disagree, but ultimately it's a matter of what they can get money for, and right now that is for 20 buses only.

Within a fleet of otherwise identical vehicles, there are usually some that are less reliable and/or in worse condition than others, so NICE will probably sideline the 20 worst buses when the new ones arrive. Better than nothing, I suppose.
