CHICAGOLAND HISTORICAL BUS MUSEUM
HOLIDAY LIGHTS TOUR

December 16, 2006

Chicagoland Historical Bus Museum sponsored this annual tour of holiday decorations in the greater Chicago area. There was hardly a free seat on CyRide 928 (ex-Buffalo Transit 4310; exx-Pace 8100) or Northern Illinois University 1654 (ex-Texas Motor Coaches 1654), both 1976 GMC T6H4523As.

1654 began at the Lisle Metra Station, and 928 left the CHBM grounds in Chicago Ridge and picked up passengers at Irving Park & Damen. The two coaches met up at Portillo's on Dempster Street in Niles.

After a longer-than-expected dinner stop due to one of the coaches running behind schedule, the tour proceeded to Rosemont, Edgebrook, and Lincolnwood Towers.

After battling terrible traffic across Ontario Street, the next photo stop and restroom break was at the former Rock & Roll McDonalds.

The tour concluded around Midnight in Westchester, where most of the lights had already been shut off. 1654 then returned to Lisle, while 928 brought people home to Chicago and points north.
